What are the types of AC compressor?

What is the advantage of Inverter AC?

  • Consumes less power in comparison to a traditional AC.
  • No voltage fluctuation.
  • Keeps constant room temperature.
  • Effective cooling.
  • Suitable for small and large spaces.
  • Safe for residential wiring due to lower power consumption.
  • Environment-friendly.

The inverter air conditioning offers variable compressor speed. The sensor embedded in the inverter regulates the power in accordance with the room temperature, thus resulting in less electricity consumption and higher energy-efficiency. When compared to non-inverter ACs, inverter air conditioners have fluctuation detection capabilities and automatic adjustments made to the overall compressor speed. This advanced mechanism helps save energy, proving beneficial to the surroundings.

What happens if the unit is too small for the room?

If a unit is too small for the room, the unit will be required to operate harder to achieve and maintain the desired temperature, which may cause extra wear and tear on its components and increase running costs.

Your air conditioner will never be able to get the room as cool as you would like.

The additional stress on the motor will shorten the lifespan of your whole system.

What happens if the unit is too large for the room?

If a unit is too big for the room, it will cause the unit to “short cycle”, which means the output of the unit will ramp up and down too frequently. This can lead to fluctuations in the room temperature and excessive noise.

Should I just replace the current machine with a new one of the same capacity or should I re-check the sizing?

It is always best to have an Air Conditioning specialist check your requirements as some of the factors may have changed over time. Some home appliances may require consideration and also any changes to floor plan or insulation should be considered.

Should I get a single phase or three phase Air Conditioner?

You should always choose your Air Conditioner according to the requirements of your room rather than just the power supply available.

The single phase power supply has one distinct wave cycle. It requires a single wire to connect the circuit. The voltage of the single phase is around 230V. Residences are generally provided single phase to sufficiently power household items.

Whereas three phase has three distinct wave cycles. 3 wires are generally used to connect the circuit.Three phase voltage is around 415V. It is used for areas requiring a higher heating/cooling capability.

How durable is the outdoor unit to sun/wind/rain?

Sir our Outdoor Units are designed to live outside your home, as long as they have been installed and secured correctly these units can withstand day to day wind, rain and sun.

What maintenance is required from me for my new Air Conditioner?

At a minimum you need to clean and maintain the air filters for the indoor unit of your air conditioner as any build-up of dust or dirt will restrict airflow. Please ask your installer to give you a demonstration on how to take care of your air conditioner.

Does an Air Conditioner ever need re-gassing?

If an air conditioner is installed correctly then it shouldn’t need to be re-gassed soon. There is no such thing as stale gas or expired gas, the only reason for recharging will be leak in the system and this should be checked by a qualified Air Conditioning technician.

Can I leave doors and windows open while operating the unit?

The best way to operate your air conditioner is to make sure all external doors and windows are closed. This ensures that the conditioned air stays inside the desired area to maintain the temperature in your room that suits you.

Can I re-use the piping which is already installed for my old Air Conditioner?

It is not recommended to re-use the same piping and cable for new units as different systems have different piping and electrical requirements.

What happens if piping is less than the minimum recommended length?

If the product is installed with less pipe work than the minimum requirement specified by Esquire Technicians, noise and/or vibration issues may occur and also the system may not perform as well as it is designed to. Esquire will not cover warranty claims for issues caused by units not being installed in accordance with their manuals.

How do I choose the best place to install a Wall Mounted Air Conditioner?

Wall mounted indoor units are best positioned high on a wall that has suitable access for drainage. However, there are different installation options which you can discuss with your Esquire Air Conditioning technician.

Can I put a cover over the front of my outdoor unit to make it less visible?

The outdoor unit of your split system needs to have adequate clearance around it to ensure it operates correctly. If you would like to conceal your outdoor unit, talk to your installer to see if a cover can be used for your installation.

What is the best location to install the outdoor unit for my Split System?

It is advised to install the outdoor unit in a safe, dry and well-ventilated area. Keep in mind the location of your bedrooms and of course your neighbors. If you have any questions, consult the installation manual and it will give you a guide as to where to place the outdoor unit.

If I move house can I take my split system with me?

It is possible to take a split system with you to a new home. However the removal of the system must be done by a qualified Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Technician and must be done in accordance with the installation manual of the air conditioner. The warranty is only valid for the first place the air conditioner is installed, so please take this into consideration if you want to move your air conditioner.

Doesn't operate immediately (Indoor unit)

If the unit is stopped and then immediately started again, the compressor will not operate for about 3 minutes, in order to prevent fuse blowouts.

Whenever power is interrupted, the protection circuit will prevent the unit from re-start for 3 minutes when power returns.

Noise is heard (Indoor unit)

During operation and immediately after stopping the unit, the sound of water flowing in the air conditioner’s piping may be heard. Also, noise may be particularly noticeable for about 2-3 minutes after starting operation (sound of coolant flowing).

During operation, a slight squeaking sound may be heard. This is the result of minute expansion and contraction of the front cover due to temperature changes.

During Heating operation, a sizzling sound may be heard occasionally. This sound is produced by the Automatic Defrosting operation.

The unit smells (Indoor unit)

Some smells may be emitted from the indoor unit. This smell is the result of room smells (furniture, tobacco, etc.) which have been taken into the a/c.

Mist or steam are emitted (Indoor unit)

During Cooling or Dry operation, a thin mist may be seen emitted from the indoor unit. This results from the sudden cooling of room air by the air emitted from the a/c, resulting in condensation and misting.

During Heating operation, the outdoor unit’s fan may stop, and steam may be seen rising from the unit. This is due to Automatic Defrosting operation.

Airflow is weak or stops (Indoor unit)

When Heating operation is started, fan speed is temporarily very low, to allow internal parts to warm up.

During Heating operation, if the room temperature rises above the thermostat setting, the outdoor unit will stop, and the indoor unit will operate at very low fan speed. If you wish to warm the room further, set the thermostat for a higher setting.

During Heating operation, the unit will temporarily stop operating (between 7 and 15 minutes) as the Automatic Defrosting mode operates. During Automatic Defrosting operation, the OPERATION indicator lamp will flash.

The fan may operate at very low speed during Dry operation or when the unit is monitoring the room’s temperature.

Why do you charge for installation?

Some companies don’t have any installation charge while we do. There is big reason behind it. If you get free installation from a company then it is more likely for you to get below par installation materials such as low quality copper pipe without proper insulation, Low quality angle and board etc. These might seem like small things but if they are made with low quality materials then it will significantly reduce the lifetime of your AC.

I’m sure you definitely don’t want your AC that was bought using your hard earned money to be ruined due to improper installation materials. We charge you for the installation kit because the one’s we use are recommended by Sharp and General authority, imported from China, comes with high quality copper pipe with proper insulation and high quality angle & royal boards. All in all, it’s a complete AC installation kit with Pre-insulated Copper Pipe, Indoor and outdoor fitting, Iron angle, Indoor-outdoor signal cable (BRB cable) for supplying and setting, Testing and commissioning of the machine, Tapes, Expert Technician.

Thus, there is significantly less chance of your AC gas being leaked, copper pipe damage or other servicing issues. As a result, your AC will give reliable service for years without any hiccup.

HVAC

What is HVAC ?

HVAC is the short form of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. It is the technology of indoor environmental comfort. Its goal is to provide thermal comfort and acceptable indoor air quality.

HVAC is an important part of residential structures such as apartment buildings, hotels and medium to large industrial and office buildings such as skyscrapers and hospitals. Ventilation includes both the exchange of air to the outside as well as circulation of air within the building. It is one of the most important factors for maintaining acceptable indoor air quality in buildings.

What are the types of HVAC system??

We have three types of HVAC systems – VRF, Chiller and Ducted Split.
1) VRF
VRF stands for Variable Refrigerant Flow. All VRFs are inverter types.
2) Chiller
There is a single type of chiller available .
3) Ducted Split
These systems are supplied with General machines.

Why would I choose Esquire to setup my HVAC system ?

•Availability of sufficient spare parts.

What is a VRF?

VRF is short for “Variable Refrigerant Flow”. It is a type of direct expansion (DX) multi-split system that incorporates a variable capacity compressor with a network of multiple indoor fan coil units. A VRF system increases efficiency by providing cooling or heating only to the individual zones where conditioning is required. Most VRF systems also employ a stand-alone controls and communications network.

How is a VRF system different from a conventional system?

A conventional system usually operates at a fixed speed. On days where the full capacity is not required, the system will turn off and on to maintain the space temperature. These systems will also have a single indoor unit connected to a network of ducts. A fan distributes air through the ducts and brings return air back to the central system. This is less efficient than a VRF system because it can only heat or cool the entire system; there can only be one set point. Also, the fan and duct losses of a conventional system can add an additional 30% to the total energy consumption.

What is a Heat Recovery or Simultaneous VRF system?

A heat recovery VRF system has the ability to cool one room (pull heat from one room) and distribute heat to another room. By doing this, the efficiency of the system is improved. While this is effective for some applications, there are also additional material and installation expenses associated with Heat Recovery. For many applications, the energy savings does not justify the additional installation costs. Instead, by using proper zoning and system design, a Heat Pump VRF system can be designed to provide comfort for all occupants.

How is it possible for a VRF system to produce better part-load efficiency?

When a VRF system is operating at part-load capacity, the heat transfer across the indoor and outdoor coil is significantly improved. For example, if a 20 ton VRF system were operating at 50%, it would be delivering the performance of a 10 ton system. However, this “10 Ton System” would have the coil surface area of a 20 ton system. This drastically improves the efficiency of this system.

Does a VRF system require Traps and Sight Glasses?

Because of efficient oil management, a VRF system does not require any traps or sight glasses. Instead, most of the oil is collected in the oil separator, located immediately after the compressor. For the small amount of oil that makes its way into the system, a VRF system will go into “oil recovery” mode. During oil recovery, the compressor ramps up and pushes any lingering oil back to the accumulator where it can be returned to the compressor.

Can I deliver greater than 35.1kW from a 35.1kW system?

This is a common misconception. A VRF system often allows for a greater connected capacity than the condensing unit. This is beneficial for applications where there are multiple zones which have a large total capacity, but where every room will not call for heating/cooling at the same time. A VRF system can shift the load to the occupied rooms based on changes in demands. However, this system will never be able to provide more than the maximum total capacity of the outdoor unit.

Refrigerator & Freezer

What is Non-Frost / Fan cooling in Refrigerator?

Non Frost / Fan cooling generally means the flow of the refrigerant is flown throughout the entire refrigerator via Cooling Fan instead of the direct cooling method where the cold used to transmit via the inner casing of the refrigerator. Because of this, Ice does not develop on the inside of refrigerator but the atmosphere still retains the same level of coldness.

How should I assemble my new Regrigerator/ Freezer?

  • Before turning on the power supply let the appliance rest for 2 or 3 hours to allow the coolant to settle.
  • The place of installation is very important for the proper functioning of the device. It is necessary to leave 5 cm at the top and 5 cm at the back  (between the equipment and the rear wall) for its correct ventilation and operation. If you also leave 5 cm on each side, it will work more efficiently.
  • Avoid as much as possible placing it next to sources of heat, such as ovens, microwaves etc because they will harm its performance.
  • Clean the inside of it with a soft cloth, water and a little neutral soap. Next, dry the remaining moisture with kitchen paper.
  • It is essential to connect the power cord of the refrigerator/ freezer directly to the wall outlet. Do not plug other appliances into the same outlet with power strips or use extension cords.
  • After connecting the power, it should then be left overnight (24 hours) to stabilize before putting any fresh food into it. You may put a bottle of water inside it.
  • The best setting for the refrigerator is +3°C (37.4f) and for the freezer is -18°C (-0.4f) to -20°C (-4f). However, this will vary depending on types of food and produce stored in the fridge.

What are the best practices of using Refrigerator/ Freezer?

  • Frequent opening of the refrigerator/ freezer results in losing the temperature build up to keep food at the temperature it is meant to be. So avoid keeping the door open for prolong periods.
  • Avoid keeping wet/ hot food inside the refrigerator/ freezer.
  • Foil, plastic wraps or bags or airtight containers are the best choices for storing most foods in the refrigerator. Open dishes may result in refrigerator odors, dried-out foods, loss of nutrients and mold growth.
  • Avoid “Over-packing.” Cold air must circulate around refrigerated foods to keep them properly chilled.
  • You should try to clean you refrigerator/ freezer Every 3 Months. Once a week, take a few minutes to check for food that needs to be tossed to prevent the growth of mold and mildew that spreads quickly.
  • Mix a solution of mild liquid dish-washing soap and hot water. Use a soft clean sponge or microfiber cloth to wipe down the interior, paying extra attention to any spills. Then wipe down surfaces with a clean dry cloth or kitchen paper.

Oven

Should I buy the Electric Oven or the Microwave one?

Electric oven : Electric oven is good for any cooking that requires baking or browning of food, roasting meat. It transmits heat from the outer part of the food by convection (baking), radiation (broiling), or conduction (frying). This heat then makes its way to the inside of the food. The main characteristic of the convection oven is that it’s used mainly for baking. When you want something roasted, grilled, brown, caramelized and crispy, this type of oven should be your first choice.

Microwave oven: Microwave oven, on the other hand, uses radio-frequency energy to heat waters and fats, which cooks food from the inside. If the microwave oven has Grill function in it- it will Grill perfectly. If it has Convection function you can bake with it. A microwave is good for re-heating, roasting and almost all other kind of cooking.

Both kinds of ovens have their unique features and usages. At the end it totally depends on your requirements and preferences.

Which microwave oven should I buy for heating, baking and grilling?

We would recommend to buy a microwave oven which also has both Grilling and Convection function.

If you use a microwave:

  • Don’t heat food in plastic.
  • Make sure food reaches 160 degrees F in all areas.
  • Cover food to help ensure uniform cooking.
  • Allow the food to sit a few minutes after microwaving.
  • Microwave food only as long as necessary, with little to no cooking water.
  • Keep the microwave out of high traffic areas.

How should I equip my new oven?

You may notice an odd smell when you turn on your oven for the first time. It’s completely normal, so long as the odor is oily or of something burning (and not gas).

No matter what type of oven you have, the first thing you should do is remove any zip or twist ties. Then use warm, soapy water and a washcloth to wipe down any racks and the insides of the oven.

Once you have wiped down all the surfaces inside the oven, it’s time to start the burn-in. While instructions may vary from one manufacturer to the next, the premise of every “burn-in” process is the same:

  • Turn on the fan in the ventilation hood and, if possible, open a few nearby windows.
  • Set the oven to high heat, between 400 to 550 degrees Fahrenheit (204 to 288 degrees Celsius).
  • Let the oven run at this temperature for between 30 minutes and an hour.

If the smell persists after the cycle, repeat the process once or twice more. Once you no longer smell oil or a burning odor, allow the oven to fully cool and use a warm, soapy wash cloth to wipe down the inside of the oven a final time.

What is PCI? How does it work?

It is a propitiatory technology developed by Sharp. This technology was developed in hopes to provide a clean and dust free atmosphere to the customers. Plasma Cluster Ion technology deactivates up to 99.97% of airborne mold, viruses, dust mite allergens and bacteria. It attacks a wide range of odors including pet, cooking, garbage and cigarette smoke.

Plasmacluster Ion technology generates positive hydrogen ions (H+) and negative oxygen ions(O2-). The positive (H+) and negative (O2-) ions from the Plasmacluster bond on the surface of airborne viruses and other substances and change into OH radicals. With their extremely strong oxidizing power, the OH radicals quickly extract hydrogen (H) from the protein on the surface of viruses and other substances, thus decomposing the protein and suppressing activity. The surface of things like bacteria and allergens consists mainly of protein. Removing the hydrogen atom (H) from this structure inactivates the undesirable substance. Furthermore, the OH radical bonds with the removed hydrogen atom (H) to immediately form water (H2O), which is returned to the air. PCI also helps to remove static electricity.

What is J-Tech Inverter?

J-Tech Inverter is a propitiatory technology developed by Sharp to provide a quality performance at the same time maximizing energy saving. Sharp’s J-Tech Inverter products can save upto 60% energy consumption which has a huge effect on the electricity bill.

To learn more about the technology, click here.

To see which products has J-Tech Inverter technology with them, click here.

What is the benefit of Inverter Technology?

Motor speed in non-inverter technology remains constant and temperature is adjusted by turning the motor ON and OFF, which consumes more energy.

In inverter technology, temperature is adjusted by changing motor speed without turning the motor ON and OFF.

Compared to non-inverters,  inverters have less power loss and can save energy upto 60% .

It also reduces wear and tear on the compressor for greater durability.

Regular motors need 3-4 times more current (more than running current) at startup. But Inverter Technology air conditioners and refrigerators have variable speed motors that start up gradually needing much lesser current at startup. For e.g. A 1.5 ton fixed speed AC that runs at about 10 Amp current may need up to 30 Amp current at startup and thus a 5 kVA inverter. But an inverter technology Air Conditioner needs about 6-7 Amp current and not much more at startup and thus a 1.5 kVA or 2 kVA inverter is good enough to support it.

Inverter ACs and fridges are generally more expensive, however, the savings from electricity bills make up the difference after some time.
